Position Title: Mechanical or Chemical Engineer - Air Quality Control Systems
Position Description: This position will evaluate, optimize and support the air quality control evaluation of a fleet of operating units including coal fired, steam turbine units and gas and oil fired combustion turbines. This is a hands-on position with responsibility for the evaluation and improvement of overall efficiency and performance for each unit’s air quality control systems (AQCS).

This includes identifying air emissions changes, communicating those changes to the station on a regular basis and most importantly working with operations and maintenance to address problems as they are identified.

Other responsibilities include executing regular performance tests on critical equipment (turbines, pumps, AQCS, etc). You will be expected to assess equipment, conduct health checkups on the equipment, perform diagnostics and then propose how to improve the equipment and systems. Additional emphasis will be placed on optimization of air quality control equipment performance, selection of new technologies for regulatory compliance and analysis of modifications and enhancements to emissions control systems. The successful candidate will demonstrate organization and communication skills combined with an enthusiasm to improve as a team.
Duties/Responsibilities: Provide plant and equipment performance assessments (to include identification of improvement opportunities) based on analysis of all aspects of performance test data.
Provide assistance with equipment overhaul evaluations in support of corporate maintenance activities.
Identify, evaluate and implement new technologies for air quality control applications
Identify, evaluate and recommend instrumentation for improved equipment/unit monitoring and performance
Initiate and support fleetwide communications and expertise sharing through team development, standards implementation and training
Serve as a liaison between consultants, contractors, project engineering and management on matters concerning design and purchase of new equipment and new power generation systems.
Review consultant/contractor prepared specifications, design concept drawings and vendor bids to provide technical purchase recommendations and advice.
Meets with equipment vendors and evaluates the compatibility and suitability of their product to Company need.
Coordinate meetings with architects, engineers, and/or vendors concerning new systems and equipment.
Assists with the development of plant/engineering goals, objectives, budgets, programs, and procedure.
May supervise exempt, non-exempt and bargaining unit personnel and coordinate the activities of engineers, or technicians assigned to specific projects.
Plans and controls all activities so as to provide an accident-free work place.
Works to ensure that the plants comply with all governmental regulations and reporting requirements.
Conducts work activities with regard to environmental rules and regulations.
Performs other duties as directed by management
Education/Experience/Skills Required: B. S. Degree from an ABET accredited school in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering required. Three or more years experience preferred. Additional education may be substituted for work experience.
Salary: $51,500 - $126,00
