Position Title: Civil Engineer
Position Description: This position within the LG&E and KU Generation Engineering department will provide civil engineering services and support to the fleet electric generating stations. Generation Engineering is a customer focused central engineering department that provides engineering expertise in support of safe, reliable, cost effective, and clean operation of generating assets. Position responsibilities include civil engineering technical support for customer’s (power plants) existing physical assets. Civil engineer will complete field inspections, perform engineering assessments, and execute civil engineering programs to optimize plant infrastructure service life. Activities include creation of engineering drawings, calculations, and technical reports. Work is conducted in the office and power plant environments.
Duties/Responsibilities: Continue to promote and build the company’s culture of safety and environmental compliance throughout all activities, projects, assignments, and work processes.
Provide civil engineering technical support to power plant engineering/technical, operations, and maintenance proponents.
Identify opportunities for improvement and implement new engineering technologies, processes and standards to implement improvements. 
Perform engineering assignments associated with the design, inspection, rehabilitation, operation, and maintenance of existing plant equipment and systems.
Assist with the development of department and customer goals including objective setting, budgeting, program development, continuous improvement and standardization of processes.
Assists plant engineers with outage and capital projects.
Prepares engineering drawings, specifications, technical reports, calculations.
Works both independently and on teams.
Perform other assignments and projects as directed by management.
Education/Experience/Skills Required: *Education & Experience 
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited civil engineering program required.

Passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (F.E.) exam and obtained Engineer-in-Training certificate preferred.
Professional Engineer’s (PE) License preferred but not required. Ability to obtain Professional Engineer’s (P.E.) license.
3+ years of professional experience in civil engineering field preferred.
Excellent customer service skills.
Ability to effectively communicate technical challenges and solutions to broad audiences.
Valid driver’s license. 
*Preferred Qualifications 
Previous experience in one or more civil engineering areas (geotechnical, structural, water resources, site development, or surveying) related to the design, inspection, rehabilitation, operation, and maintenance of heavy industrial facilities.
Coal Combustion Residuals (CCRs) impoundment and landfill facility inspections, engineering analysis, operations and maintenance support.
Assessment, repair design, and implementation support for damaged and deteriorated earthen, steel, and reinforced concrete structures.
Geotechnical field exploration, field performance monitoring instrumentation.
Site survey control networks. Field data collection, layout and analysis. 
Inspection and engineering analysis of existing storm water management systems.
Salary: $51,500.00 - 71,300.00
