The Louisville Chapter of KSPE accepts nominations for the Young Engineer of the Year Award in September/October of each year. The nomination deadline is typically November 1 of each year. The Louisville Chapter has adopted the NSPE national criteria for selection of the Young Engineer of the Year Award in order to ensure that our candidate can easily be considered for both the state and national honors. Both the Louisville Chapter and the State society have been extremely successful in the national spotlight with both Clay Kelly and Angela Akridge being selected for national YEOY honors and would very much like to continue the trend. For your use in nominating candidates, a copy of the NSPE national criteria has been posted on below.

- Candidates must not be older than age 35 (not have reached their 36th birthday) as of January 1 (of the year immediately following the August KSPE Leadership Conference at which this resource material is distributed). A person can be 35 years and some amount of months and days old in order to be eligible for the award as long as all other criteria are met. EXAMPLE: For the 2008-2009 Young Engineer of the Year Award, a nominee must not have had his or her 36th birthday on or before January 1, 2010.
- Candidate shall be a registered professional engineer or a certified engineer-in-training.
- Candidate's professional integrity and reputation shall be beyond question.
- Candidate shall have consistently worked for the professional, civic and technical interests of the engineering profession
